Veera Lummi has burst onto the alternative pop scene with her breakout EP, “LIMINAL,” released earlier this month. Featuring electronic moments and her classic orchestral style, the work functions to further her dive into self-described “experimental pop” – this time, with her as a solo artist. Her previous work as a composer in film and TV has been lauded by the Berlin Commercial Shortlist (“Burning Gold”), Tromso International Film Festival selection (“Crossing Tracks”), and BBC3 and BB6 (“12 Seconds of Light” string quartet).
“LIMINAL” is an exploration of her two worlds, the electro-based sounds of her youth from Finland and Scandinavia (see: Björk), and the modern pop influence of London-based contemporaries like James Blake. At this intersection she shines, her airy and elegant vocals dancing over synths and strings. As the principal songwriter, she also flexes her storytelling skills throughout the EP, taking the audience on a journey of rebirth.
