Essex singer-songwriter Shannon Darcy turns towards one of her most personal experiences on new single ‘Treasures and Gold’.
While the 22-year-old artist has established herself through an alternative pop-rock sound and commanding vocals, her latest release adopts a more intimate approach. Written like a letter never intended to be sent, ‘Treasures and Gold’ examines a difficult family relationship and the gradual understanding that another person’s inability to offer love or support doesn’t determine your own value.
Following debut EP ‘Just Worried Because’ and her recent single ‘Control Freak’, the track demonstrates another dimension to her songwriting, trading some of her usual pop-punk bite for something quieter and more exposed.
With this new release, Shannon Darcy continues to broaden her catalogue while keeping emotional honesty firmly at its centre.
