Sgt. Splendor pair swaggering rock ’n’ roll with a pointed message about collective responsibility on ‘Brave, Rough, and Ready to Go’, a standout from their acclaimed studio album ‘Isotopia’.
Here, the duo of Kate Vargas and Eric McFadden throw us into a strange, cinematic world of dark humour, surreal imagery and propulsive grooves. Beneath the theatricality, however, sits a more serious examination of courage and the danger of remaining a spectator when meaningful change demands collective action.
That larger-than-life character carries into the accompanying video, inspired by San Francisco’s historic Barbary Coast and the pair’s longstanding connection with circus and immersive performance. Featuring the spectacular world of Vau de Vire Society’s The Soiled Dove, the visual surrounds Sgt. Splendor with an eccentric cast of fire-wielding and gun-slinging characters. It has already earned three bronze honours at the 2026 Telly Awards, including recognition for directing, editing and music video.
The release also points towards the duo’s next chapter, with fourth studio album ‘Electric Idol’ scheduled to arrive on the 16th October.
