Watford’s Scirii turns one of the universe’s most extreme phenomena into a striking metaphor for destructive love on new single ‘TON 618’.

Named after an enormous black hole, the track imagines a former lover as an equally consuming force: somebody whose pursuit of connection leaves damage behind while remaining almost impossible to escape. Here, the artist explores the anger, sadness and helpless attraction within that dynamic through a suitably otherworldly combination of trip-hop rhythms, cinematic guitars and shifting vocal textures.

Remarkably, ‘TON 618’ was written, recorded and produced during a single burst of creativity. Beginning with just seconds of an instrumental idea she had nicknamed “ethereal ghost funk”, the entire song took shape over the course of one single night.

Described by Scirii as the beginning of the next phase of their musical evolution, ‘TON 618’ makes an intriguing case for exactly that.
