Ethereal and cinematic in tone, VISSIA’s ‘About Moving On’ is an exploration into the unpredictable nature of grieving and emotions. Evocative lyrics play out over a sweeping synth line, echoed by the slow motion used in the stunning music video.
We see Vissia standing in a field of flowers, waving in the breeze. The mood is curious; something seems off. Her living room furniture has been moved into the field itself, echoing the song’s feelings of displacement and bewilderment with which the chance meeting with an ex leaves you. It’s a suitably out-of-body experience in both visual and auditory terms, with the video reflecting the song perfectly.
The piercing lyricism of the song itself shows Vissia to be a true story teller. The current string of singles being released indicates we may have a true alt-pop star on our hands. ‘About Moving On’ was preceded by ‘Walk Me Home’, a track about finding strength in admitting vulnerability.
Clearly, writing about difficult human emotions and setting complex feelings to music is Vissia’s true strength. Very excited to see what she does next.
