Single Review: ‘No Money’ by YESLA

‘No Money’ is the new track from LA based artist YESLA and it kicks off with dirty guitar tones that are full of filth and attitude.

After thrashing through the musical intro the first verse begins. It is underpinned by a chorus and delay spiked riff  which heaves the feet dragging stomp of the verses along. Paired with an overdriven yet intimate vocal with a live in your face sound from the band there is plenty of soul and blues in YESLA’s voice. The chorus brings back the intro chord progression opening up to them swampy grunge pop guitar chords.

Staccato guitar stabs and a rolling tom tom based rock beat up the stakes of the second verse, before once again the intensity is risen through the punk vocal delivery of the chorus. The lead guitar stabs, splutters and shreds its way into the chorus leading to a musical interlude with tones that seem like they’re going to bust through your speakers. The lead guitar starts tremelo picking its way into a solo which is chaotic and frenzied almost to breaking point.

The dust slowly settles on a swinging outro with a repeating vocal phrase and various interplay between the instrumentation. This is an in your face no holds barred alt rock track with a bombastic live sound.

No Money released 5th May 2021 available to stream and download on all music platforms.
