An avant-soul vocalist has announced the details of her eagerly anticipated debut EP alongside the release of a new single.
28-year-old Sharky, whose previous string of sonically-inspiring tracks have received support from BBC Radio 1 and 6Music, has dropped ‘Fruit’ along with the news that she will release her first extended play on August 16th.
‘Fruit’, also the name of her forthcoming five-track summer release, was inspired following a trip to Morocco – during which she saw “hundreds of wasps eating themselves to a sugary death” in a sweet cabinet – and samples a recording of the country’s bustling markets for the introduction.
Produced by Speakman Sound and recorded in Cricklewood, ‘Fruit’ combines disorienting synths and hazy vocal deliveries, alongside dreamy melodies. The result? A slow-grooving dance track with melancholic traits.
