“Lie was written back in 2018 inspired by my solitary, contemplative walk along London’s South Bank by the river Thames, after being lied to and two-timed by someone that I cared about and thought loved me dearly. The song reflects my state of mind and mixed emotions during the walk as I pondered, thought about the times we shared and tried to navigate through my heartbreak from the betrayal. I realised everything we shared was ‘all a lie’ as soon as I found out that he lied to me and I was not his only one.
The song explores my melancholy, anger and eventually the realisation, confidence and acceptance that I’ll be wiser, stronger and fine without him around. The song ends with me letting go and on a path to healing and independence.”
