While attending the Chicago College of Performing Arts to study musical theatre and vocal performance, Ash Smith came up with the moniker Miss Machina. She finished her degree at SMU in Dallas and graduated with honors with a degree in Journalism and a minor in voice and songwriting. She came to Los Angeles after graduation in order to pursue a career as an independent artist. She is now finishing up her debut pop album there. The singer merges musical eras to produce a sound that is reminiscent of the music she listened to growing up. She draws inspiration from 70s disco flair, 80s synth-pop, and 90s grunge rock. She is well-known as a Twitch affiliate and an online video producer in addition to writing with and working alongside other indie musicians.
