Glasgow singer-songwriter Ellijai delivers one of her most playful releases yet with ‘Skinny Boyfriend’, a punchy collision of synth rock, indie guitars and unapologetic infatuation.
Released via Royale Stag Records, the single captures the irrational excitement of becoming completely fixated on someone whose appeal comes from their contradictions. Her unlikely heartthrob might appear scruffy and unassuming, but underneath sits the swagger of a natural rock star.
Written and performed by Ellijai Macfarlane, ‘Skinny Boyfriend’ was produced by Ewan Macfarlane, mixed by Ashley Krajewski and mastered by Chris Pavey.
At just 18, Ellijai has already received BBC Introducing Scotland support and performed at venues including King Tut’s and The Garage. And her fourth release of 2026 continues a busy run of singles as she works towards a debut album planned for summer 2027.
