Ripsime is a British-Armenian alt-pop songwriter, producer, and artist, who today truly announces her unique offering and artistry. Her music transcends borders, but it’s her artistic journey that truly defines her. After a nomadic life that led her to various corners of the globe, she embarked on a musical adventure that would ultimately define her creative identity.
Spending nearly a year in Armenia, Ripsime embarked on her next project, ‘Capsule I: Wicked and Wise.’ During this time, she self-recorded the new songs while amidst places and spaces she may never be able to revisit. The corridor connecting Artsakh to Armenia was bombed and closed during her stay, marking a turbulent period.
The lead single, ‘Wicked & Wise,’ encapsulates a dark and brooding brand of electronic pop, akin to Elder Island and Kate Bush with a sprinkling of Prince, while exuding a cutting-edge grit that rises above the noise. ‘Wicked & Wise’ stands as a testament to Ripsime’s complete creative prowess, weaving a captivating tapestry of intriguing and evocative electronic elements.
Ripsime’s vocals gracefully glide over driving beats, synths, and guitars, crafting a sound that mirrors the sensation of being torn between continents and worlds. It’s minimal yet sparse, with so many creative layers of electronica and sounds that make this such a compelling listen. Ripsime seems to have the whole package, and ‘Wicked & Wise’ is the perfect introduction to her one of a kind craft.
