Over these last few years, Wigan’s Brother have quickly established themselves as one of the more innovative names on the rise. With notable influences such as ZZ Top and The Rolling Stones, the band’s style has looked to both the past and future in equal measure, resulting in this wildly nostalgic yet progressive identity with everything they produce. And with their presence on the scene going more and more expansive by the day, they now look to cement their dynamic legacy to date with the release of their wondrous debut EP ‘Going Home’, a collection that combines those riveting ideals all under one roof.
Featuring the previously shared gems ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘Melanie’, this new six-track collection finds them in a brilliantly swaggering guise from start to finish. Helmed by some brilliantly raw and emotive vocal performances, reminiscent of heyday Fleetwood Mac, and an infectious approach to both songwriting and production, ‘Going Home’ makes for this incredibly powerful gut-punch of passion, oozing with some killer guitar hooks to boot.
Things may still be in their infancy for them right now, but ‘Going Home’ certainly gives a bold and fascinating introduction into what Brother are all about. Crafting some brilliantly fun and lively anthems alongside their more humble moments, they are certainly a name we need to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
