Belfast multi-instrumentalists Rebecca Dow and David Sloan confront isolation head-on with ‘War Against Emptiness’, a bruising new single filled with darkness, atmosphere and defiance. Following their August debut ‘Beneath You’, the track pushes the former Virgins members further into the cinematic alternative sound of their new collaboration.
‘War Against Emptiness’ explores emotional disconnection, loneliness and the exhausting search for something meaningful when everything around you feels increasingly hollow. Gritty, image-heavy lyrics move through silence, distance and fading light before the chorus erupts as the song’s emotional release; a refusal to surrender to numbness or simply disappear.
Dow and Sloan handle the entire production themselves, taking their music from its earliest ideas through to the finished mix without outside assistance.
