Emerging Stevenage artist Ravens Beats has made a compelling first impression with debut single ‘Trauma’, a bold and deeply personal release that transforms lived experience into a powerful message of hope, resilience and mental health awareness.
Created alongside international collaborator Viii Dorsey, whom Ravens Beats met through the Music Production for Women initiative, the track combines haunting production with heartfelt lyricism to explore the lasting impact of trauma while encouraging listeners to speak openly about their own experiences. Recorded in Ravens Beats’ home studio, the collaboration came together during Dorsey’s visit to the UK, with the vocals completed in just a single recording session.
The release carries profound personal significance. Inspired by the loss of a partner to mental health struggles, ‘Trauma’ reflects Ravens Beats’ determination to use music as a platform for meaningful conversation and greater awareness. Even the artwork tells part of that story, featuring an image from life-saving surgery that followed an important health diagnosis.
Influenced by artists such as Ren, Olivia Dean and Norah Jones, Ravens Beats arrives with a clear artistic vision and an important message. ‘Trauma’ is an impactful debut that introduces a promising new voice committed to creating music with both emotional depth and real purpose.
