With a new six-track E.P out there in the world, it’s no wonder Quantum Dot are taking the masses by storm.
What makes this body of work so special, is that it’s the trio’s first E.P since 2016 and it was worth the wait. It mixes the lyricism of destructive relationships, the spirituality of life and electronica all in one cocktail of emotions.
It’s a production that ebbs and flows in terms of those real vulnerable moments and the parts of life where you just need to scream. Lead singer, Thorunn, has one of those moments in the track ‘Okay’ where it’s all about accepting how life is. By discussing this, the trio explain “Moments come and go and nothing is permanent and whoever we are, whatever we do, we must live in the present moment.”
But then you have a track such as ‘Breaking Bones’ which is referred to as the carefree section of the E.P. It’s one that tricks you into a sweet and gentle feeling, but then dives into a disturbing narrative of what a man has to endure after breaking a woman’s heart. It constantly keeps any listener on the edge of their toes.
This is why Quantum Dot and the ‘Random Casualties’ E.P are ones to admire and why this writer loves them.
