Hey YUNHWAY, welcome to LOCK! How are you doing?
I’m doing good! I’ve been in the zone preparing for the EP drop. Excited for people to finally hear what I’ve been working on.
We can’t get enough of “BIGGER”. Please sum it up for us in three words for our readers!

You have such a unique style, who are your biggest influences?
I’ve always been drawn to artists that create their own space with their music completely — like Rihanna and Frank Ocean. Sonically, I take pieces from hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music. I love to blend in and out of different genres because that’s who I am culturally as well.
What inspired the sound and energy behind this song?
‘BIGGER’ came from a place of wanting to take up space — musically and personally. I’m in a moment where I feel ready to go all in and make a statement.
Your upcoming EP ‘Arrived’ drops October 17th. How does this project differ from your previous releases?
EP drops the 24th! This project feels like my arrival. My earlier work was about experimenting and finding my sound, but now it’s about owning it. It’s more global in sound as well, I’m mixing rap, club, and international rhythms. I feel more confident, and more refined.
Can you walk us through your creative process for this track, from initial concept to the final production?
It always starts with the beat — I wanted this specific genre of Brazilian phonk. I wrote all of it in one sitting, just freestyling phrases that felt powerful.
What drew you to the genre of Brazilian phonk?
I love the rhythm and attitude in Brazilian phonk — it’s dark, sexy, and raw but still danceable. The high energy and confidence you can hear fits my energy on stage.
“BIGGER” feels designed for massive live stages. How do you translate your recorded energy into live performances?
It’s about being in control but still spontaneous — I soak in the moment of being in front of a crowd with their energy. I don’t try to replicate the recording — more interaction, more attitude.

And finally, looking forward – what new directions or collaborations are you excited to explore with ‘Arrived’ and beyond?

I want to keep pushing boundaries and build a sound that feels global but still 100% me. ‘Arrived’ is just the beginning of what is to come — hopefully opening new doors to collaborate with artists outside Korea.
