Hey Anna, welcome to LOCK! How are you doing?
Hello, thanks for taking the time to speak to me, it’s actually my first interview, I’m excited. I am doing well. I have a lot of school work and the fact that I’m in a boarding school definitely does not help , but overall I’m really happy about my first release. Many of my friends congratulated me on the release and I think it’s safe to say they enjoyed it.
I’m glad I’m able to share about my musical life, and at the same time, I am engaged in many sports and school clubs.
Congratulations on your debut single ‘Innocent’! What does this song mean to you
Thank you very much. This song is really important to me, being a teenager is hard and having strong feelings is even harder. The entirety of the song isn’t necessarily written with someone in mind, but I definitely took inspiration from an experience that happened to me. This song captures my feeling and it means accepting to let go of something beautiful two people shared.
When did you first realise that music was your way of expressing yourself?
Ever since I was a little girl I loved music, at 4 years old my mom signed me up for piano and singing lessons and that’s where it all started. I remember writing small piano pieces on my own and overall being interested in poetry. About 4 years ago I realized I could put the two together, and that’s when I first started writing songs.
Can you walk us through the process of writing “Innocent” from the moment the idea came to you to its final recording?
I tend to dedicate time to let my ideas and emotions out. For a couple of hours I just sit down with a piano and come up with songs. Around June I did so and came up with a chord progression and then the lyrics followed easily. I think in total I spent 2 hours writing it.
What was it like recording in New York alongside producer Vadim Zariuta and vocal producer Galana Bosaya?
It was truly amazing. My ideas were finally being recorded and produced and that made me feel important and heard.
Your music already has a strong identity – pop with emotional intensity. How would you describe your sound in your own words?
I would describe my music identity as pop with elements of indie style. The peak of emotions comes in the bridge, where my high vocals and harmonic palette unite in expression.
Being so young in a professional music environment, did you ever feel pressure—or did it motivate you?
Honestly it motivates me. It might make it more difficult but it makes success taste sweeter.
And finally, what’s next for Anna Mozzon in 2026?
In 2026 I plan to keep writing, keep releasing more music and do so more often. Actually, I am already planning the release of another song coming out in a couple of months. I’m finishing the piano part and writing mostly in my room, with my phone and laptop, and in my school’s music room, where I have access to a piano in my boarding school. In the evenings, when I get the time to do so there is always shouting coming from our common room but it doesn’t bother me. And I always have to take into consideration that I’m sharing a small space with another person, I always try not to bother my roommate. That however isn’t an issue for me even though people tend to shout every night until 10pm.
At the same I went through the process of applying to a boarding school in London and hope to start studying there from September 2026.
