Over a year in the making, one of the biggest alt artists at the moment has just released her debut studio album. Possibly Maggie Lindermann’s finest work to date, SUCKERPUNCH is a showcase in her musical prowess. Dripping in dark melodies and exciting twists, the album gifts us all with an album that soldifies her as a powerhouse. We caught up with Maggie to talk about the new album and her biggest musical influences.
Hey Maggie, thanks for taking the time to talk to us. How has your summer been?
My summer has been amazing! I’ve been traveling a lot.
You’ve just released your new single self sabotage, which is great by the way, can you tell us more about it?
I tend to self-sabotage a lot of good things in my life. I think I crave chaos and constant movement so when something is too good it’s bad for me.
The track is taken from your new album SUCKERPUNCH – what can we expect to hear on the album?
You can expect to hear a lot of the same stuff as PARANOIA and a lot of different stuff too. I wanted to try a bunch of new things. It has a couple of metal elements, rock, electronic, and pop. it’s all over the place but cohesive I think.

How was the writing process for the album?
It was definitely harder than the ep to write. I was a little stagnant at points and didn’t know what to talk about. I felt super stuck which is when self sabotage came about and I started to sabotage my life for the art! lol
How do you think you’ve changed as an artist since the release of your EP PARANOIA?
I think I’ve just grown more into myself. PARANOIA gave me a confidence I didn’t have before which has helped me in my creativity but also helped me as a person.
Who were the two biggest inspirations for you when you first started in music? And have the people who influence you changed since then?
My two biggest influences were Melanie Martinez and Lana Del Rey. Those are still huge influences to me but I definitely have a ton of people that also influence me. Amy Lee and Hayley Williams are definitely my biggest right now.

Where do you hope to see yourself in 5 years?
Doing all this x100. Selling out my own headlining tours, doing insane music videos, and I hope I’m just happy with everything and where I’m at.
Finally, one album you cannot live without?
mmm there’s so many but probably Macadelic by Mac Miller
