Irish R&B trailblazer Erica-Cody is back – and she’s doing it all on her own terms. The singer-songwriter and all-around creative force has just dropped the vibrant visuals for her new single “grl, don’t do it!”, a genre-blending anthem that struts between R&B, garage, pop and dance with playful confidence and defiant honesty.

Premiering today on LOCK, the self-directed video is a bold statement of independence and creative vision. Shot with an effortless cool that mirrors the track’s infectious energy, the visual captures Erica-Cody in full command – celebrating the highs and heartaches of modern dating with tongue-in-cheek charm and unapologetic swagger. Rising Irish rapper Elzzz joins in, adding extra fire to the mix.

“‘grl, don’t do it!’ is an ode to the lover girls navigating dating in the fuck boy era”, according to Erica-Cody. The song was penned in just 30 minutes with producer F3miii – a testament to the ease and flow of an artist locked into her creative lane.

Having toured with the likes of En Vogue, Jessie J and Mahalia, and reaching the finals on Dancing with the Stars, Erica-Cody has long proven herself as one of Ireland’s most dynamic entertainers. With the release of this new single and video, she marks the beginning of an exciting independent era.
