Danish artist Nikoline Corlin, known by her stage name NikoCorlin, returns with her captivating new EP, If You Can Dream It, a five-song collection that delves into themes of ambition, fragile relationships, and pervasive sexism in the music industry. Released via Carrie Management, the EP highlights Corlin’s journey as an artist and woman in the creative industry, marking a bold evolution in her sound and storytelling.
Following the success of her debut album, Corlin sought a deeper level of artistic expression. “Last winter, I went to New York after releasing my debut album. I locked myself in a small room for five weeks to write,” she explains. “The isolation was essential to drown out the noise and focus entirely on my music. I wanted to confront my self-doubt head-on and create without any outside influence.” This period of introspection in Brooklyn became the foundation for, If You Can Dream It, allowing her to push creative boundaries and confront personal and professional challenges.
The result is an emotionally charged EP that captures Corlin’s raw journey. Collaborating with key musicians Julius Amdisen (Kind mod Kind), Milo Duckert Aurvig, and Emil Emborg (Neon Priest), she crafted tracks that reflect both the struggle and triumph of navigating a male-dominated music industry. The EP’s latest single, “Late To The Party,” addresses gender imbalance, delivering a candid critique of the systemic challenges faced by women in the Danish music scene.
Through a blend of simplicity and emotional depth, If You Can Dream It, explores the complexities of ambition and self-discovery. “I worked with simple compositions, large synth surfaces, and multiple vocal tracks that capture a range of emotions—from dry and sorrowful to searching and clear,” Corlin shares. The EP’s title emphasises the power of dreams, serving as both a motivation and a caution: “Dreams can hurt us the most if they don’t come true, but they are also our driving force,” Corlin reflects. This collection is a powerful testament to her resilience and growth as an artist.
