There’s a real sense of arrival running through ‘Eyes Wide Open’. Across five tracks, Molly Warburton turns self-doubt, vulnerability, love and personal growth into an alt-pop EP that feels like a line being drawn under everything that came before it.
The title says plenty on its own. ‘Eyes Wide Open’ is about clarity: recognising the people, habits and expectations that no longer fit, and beginning to see yourself without filtering everything through somebody else’s perspective.
Opening track ‘Am I The One For You?’ begins from a place of uncertainty, questioning worth and compatibility, while ‘Hopelessly Addicted’ brings vulnerability and attachment into sharper focus. ‘Better Me’ pushes further into self-reflection, before ‘Dancing with Devils’ shifts the energy towards something more defiant and outward-facing.
By the time ‘Shout Louder’ closes the EP, the journey feels noticeably changed. The searching hasn’t disappeared entirely, but there’s far more confidence in the way she frames those emotions.
Musically, the EP sits comfortably within the guitar-driven alt-pop space she has been steadily carving out. There are echoes of Fleetwood Mac’s warmth, KT Tunstall’s directness and Florence + The Machine’s broader emotional scale, but ‘Eyes Wide Open’ works best when those influences are absorbed into something more personal.
After years of building momentum through live shows, festival appearances and a growing streaming audience, ‘Eyes Wide Open’ sounds like the work of an artist with a much clearer understanding of where she wants to go next.
Honest, expansive and emotionally assured, the EP captures Molly Warburton at the point where growth stops feeling like uncertainty and starts sounding like direction.
