Newcastle singer-songwriter Martha Hill shares one of her most personal songs to date with ‘Black Crow’, the second single from forthcoming album ‘Tether’.
Dedicated to her childhood best friend Zoe, who died by suicide while she was writing the album, ‘Black Crow’ captures grief through the small memories and unexpected reminders that remain after someone is gone. Throughout, she writes from within that loss, exploring how a person can continue to surface in dreams, conversations and familiar gestures.
The single arrives as she moves towards a quieter, more organic sound, bringing indie-folk intimacy into the raw alternative songwriting that has shaped her work so far.
Martha Hill has steadily established herself within the UK independent scene since 2018, receiving support from BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 1. Her debut album F’ootball Heid’ also led to a live session for Cerys Matthews on 6 Music and sold-out UK performances since.
