Following on from a flurry of highly-praised and impactful offerings throughout the year already, which have included ‘What Goes Around Comes Around’, ‘Concentration’, ‘Masterplan’, ‘U Wish U Were Still With Me’, and her most recent gem ‘Wave’, fast-rising Detroit native Mikaila Murphy is back at it once again to deliver her energetic new release ‘Float’.

Teaming up with seasoned songwriter and producer Garen Gueyikian for the release, ‘Float’ offers up more of that bold and driven alt-pop direction she has been cultivating since the year began.

Accompanied by a fresh and inventive new video, her latest effort sees her combine her love of dance and visual choreography to create a truly mesmerising and compelling audio-visual experience.

Speaking about the new release, she said: “Creating Float was amazing. I went into the studio with a vision and my producer G made it reality!

“I wanted something I could really dance to, not just twerk. I wanted to show my true artistry!!

“He also taught me a lot in one session! I usually struggle with creating the melodies and he taught me new tricks that helped me come up with the majority of the melodies in Float!

“He also had me writing while he was creating the beat so it pushed me to write almost the whole song by myself in a short time frame!

“Creating the music video was incredible! I had a vision and I took it back to my hometown in Michigan where I had my friend, Aaron Cross, film.

“I held an audition and casted a bunch of pre-professional Michigan dancers.

“It was their first music video so it was super cool that I was able to give back to my hometown and provide this opportunity for them.

“Michigan is full of the most talented and hungry people! It’s so cool to see your work go from being a silly vision in your head to a full masterpiece in real life.

“I love the beach and being in water more than anything, so I thought it would be cool to take relationships and love and create metaphors out of water!”

Mikaila Murphy is a force to be reckoned with. The classically trained dancer and vocalist studied urban dance in her native Detroit, with R&B music as a natural outgrowth for Mikaila to share with her massive fanbase.

Mikaila’s body confidence, soulful vocals, and unapologetic message of self-love has resonated profoundly with more than sixteen million social media fans around the world.
