Leeds-based alt-pop duo Lucky Iris are back with the infectious and vibrant new single, ‘Something to Believe In’, the title track from their upcoming four-track EP.

Once again showcasing the bands ability to craft tracks which bring both a commercial front and a lo-fi electronic edge, co-creators and producers Maeve and Jasper (aka Lucky Iris) continue to ride a wave of acclaim with the new single premiered on BBC Radio 1.

Co-written and co-produced by Lucky Iris and PRS hitmaker Ben Matravers, ‘Something To Believe In’ opens with a relentless, distorted arpeggiator and beefy electronic bass underneath the silky sweet, elegantly catchy lead vocal line. As the track builds it introduces a punchy four to the floor, before gradually building into a euphoric yet understated dance-pop banger.

Not just successful artists, Maeve and Jasper are also passionate football fans, with a notable connection to Tottenham Hotspur and their pop-punk football anthem ‘Oh No’, the new single emerges as not just a great standalone single in its own right but as an unofficial anthem for England’s pursuit of victory at this summer’s Euros.

Lead vocalist Maeve explains: “When I’m going through a rough time, there are two things I consistently turn to: music and football. Being a fan has always given me something to believe in when I need it. This track is our take on an anthem, an ode to the things we pour our heart into when we don’t feel like we can. For me, it’s football and pop music, so why not combine them both? There are so many parallels between football and music, but the most important is the sense of community they both create. All you have to do is pick someone to support and, in return, get a sense of belonging. This summer, we’re team Harry Kane, and maybe you can be team Lucky Iris.”

Mixed by Richard Wilkinson (Adele, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs) and mastered by Antony Ryan (Oh Wonder, Hannah Diamond, Sugababes), ‘Something to Believe In’ the track is delectably commercial, warmly whimsical, and strikingly alternative, showcasing the duo’s brilliant feel for balance.
