Nashville singer-songwriter loraine explores remembrance from an unusually hopeful perspective on her new single ‘everywhere i go’.
Originally written with collaborator Manny about friends she lost during her late teens and early twenties, the song gained unexpected significance when two more friends passed away between its creation and recording. But instead of stepping away from the track, she used the session as part of processing those experiences.
Recorded with producer Jared at Polychrome Ranch, the vocals were captured outdoors in recognition of the friends who inspired the song and their love of nature. Acoustic guitar and naturally occurring sounds, including cicadas, give the production a gentle summertime character, while Edsel Holden handled mastering.
Following a performance of the song at Ariat during CMA Fest, ‘everywhere i go’ provides another thoughtful example of loraine’s ability to approach difficult experiences with sensitivity and restraint.
