NYC-based indie pop darling Lily Hain has just released the perfect anthem for anyone who hates dreary winters with “OH GOD.” As the fifth and final single off of her forthcoming debut album, Fatal Flaws, it works to assert Hain’s position beside contemporaries Holly Humberstone and Olivia Rodrigo. “The shine on my shoes wore off,/ February made me lonely as hell,” she sings.
Hain toes the line between alt-pop and singer/songwriter, writing lyrics that are both confessional and beg to be sung at full volume. Previous releases have caught the ear of the press and radio, gaining her a loyal fanbase that now eagerly awaits her first full-length project.
Hailing from North Carolina, she penned the track over a simple bassline when she realized the harsh realities of New York seasons. “It’s about my frustration of the constant of bitter cold, grey days and what it does to my mindset. It also chronicles the novelty of moving to New York City wearing off – I had dreamt of moving to NYC since I was a little girl so this song touches on the realities of living in the big city versus the shiny version I had in my head.”
Fatal Flaws is set for release on February 9th.
