Kyra Gordon’s single, the moving Americana anthem “Traveler,” now has a new visual. The music video is cast in shades of brown and white, a weathered mood to accompany the track’s message. Scenes of her walking through the woods are interspersed with trains and cars moving along, a vagrant sentimentality echoed in her lyrics. “There’s something out there calling me/ It’s not about freedom, I’m already free,” she sings.
Gordon’s time as a musician has brought her from North Carolina to Paris, finally settling in the Bay Area of San Francisco.
“I’m a seeker and have been on the road searching for myself artistically my whole life,” she shares. “My travels have taken me back and forth across the US performing in people’s homes since 2016. My heart loves the yin and yang of travel and home. Wherever I am, I am trying to write what I see. There is something about long drives that really unlock a part of my creativity. I have a little notebook handy and jot things down on the steering wheel, or voice memo a melody idea.”
“Traveler” is the title track taken off of Gordon’s forthcoming album, expected in the summer of 2024.
