Suffolk singer-songwriter Gabby Rivers displays her move into indie-rock with the emotive, exhilarating new single ‘Two Face’.
Taken from the anticipated upcoming EP Disappointed But Not Surprised, the track offers an exciting look at what to expect across the upcoming EP as Gabby vibrant, expressive vocal delivery with an explosive, guitar led musical backdrop. Capturing the energy of her live performances whilst retaining subtleties, dynamics and the depth in her vocal performances, Gabby’s vocals tingle with a vexing intensity as she moves from the wordy verse to the falsetto pre-chorus and the infectiously catchy, chanting chorus.
Speaking about the meaning behind the lyrics and her influences, Gabby sharess: “Two Face is about working in retail and one particular person causing havoc, they become the main cause of drama, talking about people but always being nice to their face and making a work place unenjoyable. So I wrote this song for people to scream after a bad shift and to know that yes, retail may be toxic but you’ve got to learn to ignore the haters.
The song is inspired by artists such as Wolf Alice, Nothing But Thieves and Florence and the Machine. It first started out on an acoustic guitar in my bedroom before taking it to the band one day in band rehearsal.”
An exciting offering from a young up and comer with a bright future, ‘Two Face’ is out now.
