Glasgow five-piece Sister Madds have officially unleashed their highly anticipated debut EP, Are You Hungry?, out today, February 27th. Produced by Jamie Holmes (who has worked with Hayley Kiyoko, Lucia and the Best Boys, Gerry Cinnamon, Bully), the EP cements the band’s reputation for blending fizzing alt-rock energy with biting lyricism and fluorescent, hook-laden melodies.
Drawing on late-2000s songwriting influences—from the cheeky pop of Lily Allen and Kate Nash to Paramore’s punchy edge—Are You Hungry? captures hard-hitting, punk-tinged musicianship wrapped in catchy melodies and angsty, singalong-ready delivery.
Tracks like the infectious single “Table Manners”, the fuzzy, sizzlin’ “Get Rich, Get Girls, You’ll Be Happy”, and the sharp-witted “Nepobaby” showcase Sister Madds’ bratty, bold, and topical style, earning comparisons to The Beaches and No Doubt, with playful flashes of Alvvays and Wet Leg. Across four tracks, the EP channels the energy and spirit of the band’s live shows while retaining a polished, radio-ready sheen.
