Evelí Ray brings together the musical traditions of Europe and Latin America on her captivating new single ‘Tiempo’, an atmospheric exploration of mortality, memory and the extraordinary power of time.
The Barcelona-based artist’s latest offering combines traditional Argentinean cueca rhythms with contemporary electronic production, delicate piano and expressive saxophone. The result is a beautifully textured composition where ancient musical traditions meet modern experimentation.
At its heart, ‘Tiempo’ considers life’s fleeting nature, exploring how time shapes our relationships, memories and understanding of existence. Her philosophical songwriting encourages us to recognise time as our most precious possession, with love and the connections we create ultimately becoming our lasting legacy.
Recorded at Medusa Estudio in Barcelona, the single features saxophonist Juan Martín Medina, who has previously toured with Julieta Venegas. Grammy-winning engineers Érico Moreira and Felipe Tichauer handled mixing and mastering respectively.
Drawing inspiration from Loreena McKennitt and Ana Alcaide, Evelí Ray creates a fascinating meeting point between folk mysticism and contemporary songwriting.
