Spend a few minutes with eranine and you’ll find two worlds sitting side by side. On one side: unicorns, dolls, trinkets and a love of anything that makes them feel like a kid again. On the other: antique curiosities, taxidermy, and a long held wish to own a haunted doll.
That same push and pull runs through their music. The Florida artist’s new single “Bear Witness” deals with trauma and loss of innocence, yet it sounds soft and dreamlike, all hushed vocals and shimmering bells over distorted guitars. Beauty and darkness, in the same breath.
eranine is a maker at heart. Away from music, they run a small handmade business turning vintage Altoids tins into custom wallets, and they love modelling, fashion and photoshoots. “There’s something really exciting to me about taking an idea that exists in your imagination and watching it become real,” they say.
With “Bear Witness”, the thing made real is something painful. “I want anyone who has experienced something similar to know that they aren’t alone,” they explain.
Fully independent, eranine has played Lollapalooza and toured with Slowdive. The music video is out now!
