Romanian native Daria Mirea gained widespread recognition in 2018 as a result of her performance on the popular music competition show The Voice of Romania. The singer-songwriter, who is now located in the UK, started composing songs in 2020. She later picked up a guitar and enrolled in London Music School, where she became well-versed in the technique of creating heartfelt melodies.

With the release of her much-awaited single “Before It Gets Dark,” Daria Mirea makes a comeback. With her second single, she is presently directing her creative talents towards ever more sensitive, honest, and vulnerable compositions. Her unpolished voice are showcased in a dreamy way throughout the song, giving it a unique and alluring feel. The pop release immerses listeners in a world of captivating soundscapes while embracing the feelings of being simultaneously depressed and hopeful.

The powerful lyrics and heartbreaking instrumentation over the catchy melody of the song symbolises the want to be a companion on people’s journeys of healing and progress. Along with Daria Mirea’s soft vocals, the pop song includes acoustic guitar, piano, violins, percussion, bass, and electric guitar. She wrote much of “Before It Gets Dark” on a cool September evening while remembering the warm evenings of the last summer. She subsequently collaborated with two incredible producers, Romanian-based Andrei Horjea and London-based Jules Konieczny, to make a song that matched her goal it—to assist others on their journeys of personal development and healing.

Speaking on the track, Daria Mirea comments, “From the intimacy of a warm summer evening to an ultimately withered September, ‘Before It Gets Dark’ details the intricate journey of coming to terms with heartbreak, encapsulating feelings of hopefulness, longing, and despair, all the way to acceptance. It evokes the universal truth that humans chase fleeting dreams, even though these can leave us in the dark if they don’t reach fulfillment. This song was my companion in my own journey of healing and growth, and I can only hope it will do the same for anyone in need, as I believe it is through accepting vulnerability and becoming more in touch with our feelings that we gain strength.”
