New Orleans’ Daphne Parker Powell makes her eagerly-awaited return to deliver her vibrant new single ‘Perpetual Light of the Void’.
The track offers a deeply personal reflection on themes of mortality, belief, and the human desire to understand what lies beyond life. Written during the same creative period as her album The Starter Wife, the song draws on Powell’s long-standing interest in how different cultures interpret death and remembrance, weaving those ideas into an intimate and emotionally direct piece of songwriting.
Recorded at Esplanade Studios in New Orleans, the release also forms part of her involvement as a 2026 featured artist with the nonprofit organisation Cancer Can Rock, which supports musicians affected by cancer.
Blending stark imagery with moments of warmth and subtle humour, ‘Perpetual Light of the Void’ captures both vulnerability and resilience, positioning her as a distinctive voice exploring complex, existential themes through a personal lens.
