Finnish artist Conchis makes a powerful debut with Chapters, an 11-track album that’s as profound as it is hauntingly beautiful. Known for her multi-disciplinary approach and her resilience in the face of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Conchis’ creation is shaped by raw constraint: each song was limited to five vocal takes, a necessity that translates into an unfiltered emotional depth across the album.
The album draws inspiration from the novel The Magus by John Fowles, an enigmatic tale filled with psychological depth and suspense that reflects her own complex exploration of human experiences. Each track is layered with themes of psychological and elemental exploration—water, fire, earth, and air—symbolising Conchis’ own introspective journey through life’s fragilities and resilience.
