Rising solo artist Efro returns with her latest single, ‘Lipstick Stains’, a heat-hazed ode to summer, fleeting romance and the memories that refuse to fade with the season.

Continuing to carve out her own space within the indie landscape, Efro delivers another showcase of her instantly recognisable sound. ‘Lipstick Stains’ blends psychedelic textures with gritty, vintage-inspired production and a lo-fi charm, settling into an effortlessly laid-back groove that feels tailor-made for long summer evenings.

At its core, the track is driven by fuzzy bass, biting guitars, distorted keys, boxy drums and subtle washes of synth. These elements combine to create a hazy meeting point between indie rock and alternative psychedelia, with understated lo-fi touches giving the track its sun-faded character. The sound carries echoes of PJ Harvey, Sun Room and Dope Lemon, while drawing on the timeless cool of Lou Reed and The Strokes.

Yet beneath its warm, nostalgic surface, ‘Lipstick Stains’ is ultimately a song about impermanence. Efro captures the feeling of a perfect summer slipping away: the intensity of a seasonal romance, the freedom of spontaneous moments and the lingering traces left behind once everything returns to normal.

Lipstick Stains began as a visualisation of a perfect endless idealistic summer,” Efro explains. “I first started writing the lyrics by having in mind the things that make summer what it is, long days at the beach, listening to the waves crashing, summer love. Then I came up with the bassline keeping the song moving no matter what and later came the bridge with the song reaching its climax there, kind of portraying those more spontaneous summer moments we all know and love. It’s a love song about summer.

The new single follows the foundations laid by Efro’s debut EP, ‘Year of Yearning’, which established her early identity through indie-rock nostalgia, emotional directness and a strong melodic instinct. Since then, she has continued to develop a sound that brings together indie garage-rock energy with sun-soaked, surf-leaning textures, creating music that feels both intimate and expansive.

Originally from Athens, Efro later studied in Brighton, UK, before relocating to Berlin, where she is now based. That journey across three distinct European creative hubs has become an important part of her musical identity, giving her work a sense of movement while retaining a strong connection to classic indie and rock traditions.

Away from streaming platforms and playlists, Efro has established herself as a compelling live act, performing across the UK and Europe. Her live trajectory has included an appearance at Quiksilver Festival 2025 in France, further cementing her presence within a growing European alternative scene.

With ‘Lipstick Stains’, Efro once again demonstrates her ability to turn atmosphere into something tangible. Warm, hazy and effortlessly cool, the track feels like a memory caught at golden hour, a soundtrack to sun-drenched days, messy romance and the bittersweet knowledge that summer never lasts forever.
