Across five interconnected tracks, London artist Antoin Gibson moves through mortality, consciousness, self-destruction, identity and the terrifying possibility that some of the most important questions in life may never have clear answers. Dark-pop, industrial electronics, art-pop, hip-hop and theatrical storytelling collide throughout, giving the project a sense of scale that feels far bigger than its runtime.

‘Introduction to the Unexplained’ is the doorway. Here, she immediately steps away from straightforward confrontation and into something more introspective, establishing the EP’s fascination with uncertainty before ‘Pandora’s Paradox’ widens that feeling into questions of consequence, choice and the unknown.

Then ‘Dystopian Empress’ raises the stakes. The track pushes the project into more theatrical territory, examining humanity’s destructive instincts with a sense of drama that suits her conceptual ambition. ‘Mirrors Behind the Smoke’ follows by dragging us deeper into the darkness, focusing on the uncomfortable realities hidden beneath appearances.

It’s here that the EP really begins to feel immersive, as each song seems to open another chamber inside the same maze.

By the time ‘Fortune Favours the Timeless’ arrives, she makes another bold turn. The more intimate closing landscape creates a striking contrast with the darker electronic material that precedes it, allowing the EP to end in something almost approaching openness.

Throughout the release, she refuses to tell us what happens after death or what consciousness ultimately means. Instead, she leaves the door wide enough for fear, hope, spirituality and doubt to exist simultaneously.

It’s theatrical, ambitious and unapologetically strange, but beneath all of that scale is the need to understand what we are, why we’re here and what might remain when everything else disappears.
