Californian native Alexa Shoen, has released her debut LP Lies I Used To Tell Myself About Love.
Recorded at Jazzanova Studios in Berlin in collaboration with engineer/producer Ed Bentley (Sophie Hunger, Parcels) and musical director David Riaño Molina. The album was mastered by Matt Colton ( Kylie Minogue, FKA twigs) at Metropolis Studios in London. The end result of this is a The 25-minute record full of warmth, soulful vocals and playful jazz beats.
Cutting her musical teeth in the traditional jazz scene in the US back in 2011, Alexa is a multitalented individual. Ass well as being a musician, she is also an entrepreneur and writer.
Speaking about the lead album’s lead single, Better Kisser, Alexa said: “This song is about exactly what you think it’s about. I wanted to write a strong fantasy track. Instead of facing reality–playing the victim of a painful and mostly unrequited relationship who then did something wildly inappropriate–what if, instead, I could turn the narrative around? What if I got to have the power? Just for once?”
