Later this year the record-breaking UK country music duo Ward Thomas will be releasing their eagerly anticipated third album.
The new LP will be released via Sony Music and follows their outstanding independent debut release From Where We Stand and their major label debut Cartwheels.
The Cartwheels LP catapulted the Hampshire twins to national and international stardom and made them the first ever British country act to score a number 1 album on The Official UK Album Chart. And very soon Catherine and Lizzy will be dropping their third studio release.
Here we bring you a preview of that very anticipated release:
WHAT WE KNOW:
Ward Thomas have been in the recording studio and writing room since late last year and the album has been mastered and produced in the UK and also in Nashville. For the new record the twins have been working with a number of big name music industry professionals including the Grammy Award-winning producer Samuel Dixon. Songwriters Jessica Sharman, Tonya Poe, and Rebekah Powell have once again also been enlisted to assist in the writing room. These three women helped to create huge tracks such as ‘Carry You Home’, ‘Guilty Flowers’ and ‘Dirt and Gold’.
For this LP Ward Thomas are once again working with their touring band Gabriel Piers-Mantell (keyboards), Linus Fenton (bass), Dave Baker (Drums), Dan Gordon, and Billy (guitars).
So far we have heard five tracks from the as-yet-untitled album. The songs were premiered during their 2017 Cartwheels UK tour and at two special Christmas shows back in December. The songs are ‘I Believe In You’, ‘Breathe In’, ‘Same Love’, It’s Not Just Me’, ‘One More Goodbye’ and the collaboration with US country music sensation Sarah Darling, ‘Our Song’.
These tracks somehow manage to put their previous releases in the shade. Their songwriting is up there with the likes of Shania Twain and Miranda Lambert, and their production is polished to perfection. ‘I Believe In You’ is a huge folk-infused track that is already a huge crowd-pleaser. ‘Breathe In’ is a gorgeous stripped-back country ballad that highlights Ward Thomas’ spine-tingling harmonies. ‘Same Love’ is a fantastic country-pop-reggae hit that showcases their spectacular songwriting ability. ‘It’s Not Just Me’ separates Ward Thomas from the rest and this will be a major standout on the new album. It’s up there with old-school Shania Twain. ‘One Last Goodbye’ is a lyrically outstanding track and showcases Catherine and Lizzy as two of the finest songwriters of our generation. ‘Our Song’ is a beautiful ballad with Sarah Darling, and their three voices blend together to create a sublime harmony.
Ward Thomas will release their new album in the next several months and will also be touring the UK later this year!
