Sophielou drops her 8-track EP “Overtime”

Wolverhampton-based artist Sophielou drops her new independent EP “Overtime”. Warping R&B rhythms with hints of rap and soul, the EP is a collection of tracks that showcase Sophielou as an artist confident in her own abilities.

Opening with “Give It All Up”, the slow, lo-fi R&B sonics are honey to our ears. Soothingly calm, the track introduces Sophielou’s dainty vocals and it’s quite simply pure bliss. On “Old Ways”, the EP takes on some Y2K vibes. It’s a turn for the best however, with Sophielou’s voice layering over a backbeat that delicately cushions the words with ease. Whilst “If You Ever Left” fuses trap soul-styled soundscapes, it’s the Manga Saint Hilare collab that has us hooked. A bold UKG track, with bass pulses and electronic additions, the track elevates Sophielou’s diversity to another level. Closing the EP with the elegant “Instincts”, the track leaves you feeling refreshed and wanting a hell of a lot more wormed into your ears.

With eight tracks to showcase herself as a multi-faceted artist, it’s clear that Sophielou is an incredible talent. Blurring the lines of genre with brilliant concoction of R&B, trap soul and rap, this is an artist that is going somewhere. And to be honest, it better happen soon.
