Nordic duo When ‘Airy Met Fairy have announced their debut album Glow.
The two-piece is fronted by Thorunn Egilsdottir from Iceland and also includes Luxembourger Mike Koster.
The duo who formed in 2015 are supported visually by art director Runa Egilsdottir, who is Thorunn’s sister, and they also work with French producer Raphael Kindig. Runa and Raphael create all the art work and music videos for When Airy Met Fairy.
UK fans will be able to get up close and personal with the Nordic band later this summer as they will be performing in London on June 7th at The Finsbury. And shortly after that they will be releasing their debut album ‘Glow’ which will drop on July 7th.
Speaking about the record Thorunn says: ”The music business feels so lavish and overproduced. With our album I just wanted to take a step back and reduce it to almost nothing.” Koster adds: ”We work with layers. It’s like baking a cake.”
The LP is led by new single ‘Until Your Season Dries’, which was released on Friday, May 11th. The track is a melancholic indie pop tune that showcases the duo’s brilliant music output.
Speaking about the single, Thorunn says: ”Love is like a battlefield and when it dies, it’s like two sinking war ships. ‘Until Your Season Dries’ takes the harshness away and presents the break up in soft, poetic slow motion. After the storm, comes peace and quiet. There is something so infinitely beautiful in the afterlife of a relationship.”
