LOCK Magazine are proud to premiere Phebe Edwards’ new, Rebekah Bird-directed music video for her latest track ‘Space’. Watch the video now at the top of the page.
Phebe Edwards is often compared vocally to the legendary songstresses Aretha Franklin, Mary J Blige, Chrisette Michele, and Whitney Houston. But the London singer-songwriter has honed her own unique style, which is an amalgamation of funky R&B, Neo-soul, and gospel; this culminates in her new release ‘Space’.
The video itselfs sets Edwards’ side profile against a sun-setting sky, in a freeing and open environment. An interpretive dance routine plays out throughout the the video, cutting between shots of Edwards and guest vocalist Cameron Bloomfield, which seemingly conveys the ups-and-downs of a relationship that can at times feel suffocating – mirroring Edwards’ plea for ”my space”.
Having worked and performed with the likes of Adele, Rita Ora, James Brown, and various other big names, Phebe Edwards has set out to conquer 2018 as an artist in her own right. ‘Space’ is the latest release that will inevitably build upon Phebe’s already fast growing fan base.
