Trap-pop newcomer Harina recently shared her addictive new single ‘Nothing’. It’s a sassy, attitude-laden track about not letting people get in the way of what you want. We’re here for it. Harina gave us a few minutes of her time to chat all things pop.
Hey Harina, welcome to LOCK! What’s on your playlist right now?
The new Selena Gomez album is on repeat at the moment! I’m a big fan!
You recently released your debut solo single “Nothing” – what’s it about?
‘Nothing’ is about not trying to fulfill other people’s expectations and not losing your direction. I think no matter what, it’s important to own your decisions and do your thing!
We’re loving the single and think it’s a slice of trap-pop gold, can we expect to hear more songs soon?
I have a lot of new music that will come out this year and I’m super excited for the world to hear it!
Is it true you were going to become a dentist before you moved to London to pursue your dreams of becoming a recording artist?
Yeah, I always wanted to be a doctor, but dentistry wasn’t really my thing. I was always doing music on the side and I would have regretted it if I wouldn’t have went full on with it! We only live once and I didn’t wanna have a plan b.
What’s the biggest lesson you learnt from studying at BIMM London?
We had to sing a lot of different genres, so I definitely figured out what kind of singer I wanted to be and what I’m good at and what not as much.. Plus I met some of the coolest and musically talented people ever!
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I’m a big fan of strong women in the pop industry, such as Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Beyonce. I want to be authentic and sing about things that are relevant to our generation.
What’s your aims for this year?
I have a great feeling about 2020. I just want people to hear my music and relate to it. I’m definitely going to give it my everything and work harder than ever! Would be great to release a music video and perform more.
And finally.. karaoke – yay or nay?
Ahh not so much my thing if I’m honest! I like to be prepared when I perform.
Keep up to date with Harina
