New York-based singer-songwriter, Maddie Regent, has released her latest single ‘Alright’.
Full of uplifting pop hooks, catchy electronic textures and effortlessly cool vocals, ‘Alright’ is the follow up to Regent’s previous singles ‘Numb’ and ‘You Had It All’.
Speaking about the track, Maddie says: “‘Alright’ is about the anxiety I feel as a young adult trying to tackle the future. I had just graduated college when I wrote this and I remember feeling like I had to make everything I wanted to happen all at once and that terrified me. People in my life were always saying I’d be okay and that things would workout, and I was just sitting there smiling and nodding while freaking out inside.”
“I made this song to sort of validate that experience. If you, no matter where you are in life, find yourself saying‘I’m fine’ when you are really going down a rabbit hole of ‘what ifs’ and ‘I don’t knows’ – know that I feel the same way and it’s okay. I even wanted to kind of add sarcasm to the idea. I would always be like ‘yes I’m fine”but in my head I was rolling my eyes like ‘Alright, that was convincing Maddie’. You are not alone!”
