Hailing from Maplewood New Jersey, it wasn’t long before soulful vocalist Alexis Keegan decided that music was something that she wanted to pursue. She was 12 years-old when her father was diagnosed with cancer and she decided to record Mariah Carey’s ‘Butterfly’ as a tribute. It was after this period of extreme sadness that Alexis decided to dedicate her life to bringing people relief and happiness through her music, and so began her musical journey
Soon after she joined her school’s Gospel choir, and despite lacking any prior ensemble experience was quickly chosen as the lead vocalist. From here her career continued to grow and she quickly began to gain support as a musician and a performer. She then moved to Philadelphia for college and whilst studying there would drive to New York after her classes on a Thursday to record with Jay-Z’s nephew’s gang all weekend, before driving back to attend her classes on Monday.
And now she is ready to show the world who she really is as a solo artist with the release of her gutsy and high energy RnB fusion track ‘Gospel’. Starting with a percussion based introduction, the song soon develops into a dynamic track with a gutsy vocal line and strong backing vocals and harmonies. Alexis’ vocals take the centre stage, and her control and vocal power situate her as a real ‘one-to-watch’.
